WHY CHOOSE CATERING?
Caterers specialize in off-site event service, offering customizable menus, logistics management, setup, and staffing for events of any size. Conversely, restaurants that cater primarily focus on consistent, daily dine-in operations, usually providing simpler, "drop-off" style food service from a fixed menu with limited onsite support.
KEY DIFFERENCES:
Service Level:
Professional caterers often offer full-service options (including servers and bartenders) and m noanage on-site preparation, guaranteeing freshness. Restaurants that cater generally offer food delivery or pick-up, leaving setup and service to the host.
Flexibility & Customization:
Caterers build their business around tailoring menus to specific dietary restrictions, themes, or personal recipes. Restaurants typically operate within a limited, standard menu.
Logistics & Setup:
Caterers are equipped for event logistics (chafing dishes, staff, transport). Restaurant catering is often an extension of their daily kitchen, which may struggle with the logistics of large off-site events.
Cost Structure:
Caterers often provide comprehensive, higher-cost packages covering logistics. Restaurant catering is usually more cost-effective for smaller, casual events, priced per item or platter.
When to Choose Which:
Choose a Caterer for: Weddings, large corporate events, or events needing tailored menus and full service.
Choose a Restaurant for: Small office lunches, casual family gatherings, or when you specifically want food from a favorite spot
